Causes of back and pelvic pain during pregnancy

You want to enjoy your pregnancy as much as possible, preferably without complaints. Nevertheless, back problems often occur during pregnancy. Why? During pregnancy, the body changes to get ready for the baby. Space must be created and the body posture changes. Ligaments become softer and the weight of your abdomen pushes on the muscles of the lower back.

As a result, you may experience pain in the back, pelvis, buttock, groin and legs.

The most common causes of complaints during pregnancy are:

  • Increase in weight causing extra strain on back and pelvis
  • Changes in hormone levels
  • Wrong posture due to growing abdomen
  • Changes in the pelvis such as misalignment or dysfunction
